Xcel Energy

Xcel Energy is a major US regulated electricity and natural gas utility serving customers across eight Western and Midwestern states. Through operating utilities including Northern States Power, Public Service Company of Colorado and Southwestern Public Service Company, it supplies electricity and natural gas while investing in renewable generation, electricity networks and emissions reduction. The company has become an important commercial customer for long-duration energy storage. Xcel Energy is working with Form Energy on iron-air battery projects, including plans associated with Google's data centre electricity requirements in Minnesota. These deployments are intended to test how multi-day storage can support grid reliability alongside expanding renewable electricity generation and large new loads.
