UNEP Minamata Convention Secretariat

The Minamata Convention Secretariat supports the implementation of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, the global treaty designed to protect human health and the environment from mercury and mercury compounds. The Secretariat coordinates treaty meetings, supports Parties, manages official documentation, facilitates reporting, provides technical assistance, and helps advance global controls on mercury supply, trade, products, industrial processes, artisanal and small-scale gold mining, emissions, releases, storage and waste.
