The Protein Express

The Protein Express is a Dutch biotechnology startup focused on scalable protein production through fungal precision fermentation. The company develops and commercializes a proprietary fermentation platform designed to produce functional and heterologous proteins using sustainable, cost-efficient processes. Its technology can support applications in food, feed, pharma, industrial products, and emerging biomaterials. The company was launched in 2026 as the successor to BioscienZ, an industrial biotechnology company founded in 2011. The Protein Express is based in Breda and is working with partners such as Solena Materials to apply fermentation technology to protein-based textile fibre production.
