Sandoz is a Swiss pharmaceutical company specializing in generic and biosimilar medicines. Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, the company operates globally and focuses on expanding access to affordable medicines across therapeutic areas, including antibiotics, oncology, immunology, endocrinology, and complex generics. The Sandoz name dates back to 1886, when Kern & Sandoz was founded in Basel as a chemicals and dyes business before later expanding into pharmaceuticals. Sandoz became part of Novartis in 1996 and operated as its generics and biosimilars division until it was spun off as an independent, publicly listed company in October 2023.
