Rest, formerly the Retail Employees Superannuation Trust, is one of Australia’s largest profit-to-member superannuation funds by membership. Established in 1988, it was originally associated with retail sector workers but now supports a broad member base across Australia. Rest provides superannuation, retirement income, insurance and investment services, with profits returned to members rather than shareholders. As a major institutional investor, Rest is relevant to climate finance and energy transition analysis, particularly in relation to how retirement savings are allocated to renewable energy, batteries and other long-term infrastructure.
