Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem)

Ofgem, the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, is the independent regulator responsible for gas and electricity markets in Great Britain, covering England, Scotland and Wales. It operates as a non-ministerial government department and is governed by the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA). Ofgem was established in 2000 under the Utilities Act 2000 as part of reforms that brought gas and electricity regulation under a single authority.
