The Marine Stewardship Council, or MSC, is an international nonprofit organization that operates a global certification and ecolabel program for sustainable wild-capture seafood. Its standards cover fisheries and supply-chain traceability. The MSC Fisheries Standard assesses whether fisheries are well managed and sustainable, while the Chain of Custody Standard verifies that certified seafood remains identifiable, separated and traceable through the supply chain.
