London Assembly

The London Assembly is the elected scrutiny body within the Greater London Authority. Established alongside the Mayor of London in 2000, it consists of 25 elected members and is responsible for examining the Mayor's decisions, policies and spending. The Assembly conducts investigations and publishes recommendations covering areas including transport, environment, housing, policing and London's economy. Within the transition to autonomous transport, it provides an institutional forum for examining issues such as road safety, congestion, cybersecurity, employment and the interaction between new mobility services and public transportation. Its oversight role can therefore influence how emerging technologies such as autonomous taxis are incorporated into London's broader transport strategy.
