Summary

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) is an independent global body established in 2021 by the IFRS Foundation to develop a comprehensive baseline of sustainability disclosure standards for global capital markets. Its mission is to provide investors and regulators with consistent, comparable, and reliable sustainability and climate-related information. The ISSB consolidates and builds upon frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), SASB Standards, and Integrated Reporting (IR). In 2023, it released its first two standards: IFRS S1 (General Sustainability-related Disclosures) and IFRS S2 (Climate-related Disclosures). The ISSB works closely with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to ensure interoperability between financial and sustainability reporting, supporting the global transition to transparent and accountable business practices.
