Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR)

The Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) is an independent, Jakarta-based think tank focused on energy policy, climate action, and sustainable development in Indonesia. Established to support evidence-based policymaking, IESR conducts research, policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement aimed at accelerating the transition to low-carbon energy systems while ensuring social equity and economic resilience. IESR is widely recognised for its work on renewable energy deployment, coal phase-out strategies, electricity market reform, and Indonesia’s pathway to net zero emissions. Its research is frequently referenced by government institutions, international organisations, development banks, and civil society.
