Indian Green Building Council (IGBC)

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is part of the Confederation of Indian Industry and serves as one of India’s leading bodies for green building certification, rating systems, training, and sustainability guidance for the built environment. Formed in 2001, IGBC develops rating frameworks for different building types, including new buildings, homes, factories, campuses, cities, and net-zero projects. Its certification systems assess areas such as sustainable site planning, water conservation, energy efficiency, building materials, indoor environmental quality and innovation. Headquartered in Hyderabad, IGBC also represents India in international green building forums and is a founding member of the World Green Building Council. Its work supports developers, companies, institutions and policymakers seeking to reduce the environmental impact of buildings and infrastructure.
