ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability

ICLEI is a global network founded in 1990 by local governments from 43 countries at the World Congress of Local Governments for a Sustainable Future at UN headquarters in New York. Originally named the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, ICLEI now works with more than 2,500 local and regional governments across 125+ countries. It supports sustainable urban development through technical assistance, peer exchange, partnerships, capacity building and policy advocacy, addressing areas including zero-emission development, resilience, nature, circularity and equity.
