HM Treasury is the United Kingdom’s economic and finance ministry. It oversees public spending, sets the direction of economic policy and has strategic responsibility for taxation, financial services policy and public investment. Through the Budget and spending reviews, it determines departmental funding allocations and the financial framework supporting government programmes, including carbon capture and industrial decarbonization.
