Green Building Initiative (GBI)

The Green Building Initiative (GBI) is an international nonprofit organisation founded in 2004 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The organisation develops and administers green building certification, assessment, and standards programs focused on sustainability, resilience, health, and operational efficiency in the built environment. GBI oversees the Green Globes certification system, Journey to Net Zero framework, and federal Guiding Principles Compliance program used across commercial and government buildings in North America. The organisation also provides professional credentials, technical education, and ANSI-accredited standards development supporting sustainable construction and building operations.
