Government of Austria

The Government of Austria is the federal executive authority of the Republic of Austria. It is responsible for implementing federal laws, directing domestic and foreign policy, managing the federal administration, and representing Austria internationally. The government is composed of the Federal Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, and Federal Ministers, who collectively form the Council of Ministers. It is politically accountable to the National Council (lower house of parliament). Austria operates as a democratic federal republic, and the government functions within the framework of the Federal Constitution, emphasizing the rule of law, separation of powers, and social partnership.
