German Aerospace Center (DLR)

The German Aerospace Center, known by its German abbreviation DLR, is Germany’s national research and technology centre for aeronautics, space, energy, transport, security and defence. DLR operates research institutes and major technical facilities across Germany and participates in national and international scientific programmes. Its aviation work includes aircraft propulsion, alternative fuels, atmospheric measurement, emissions analysis and contrail research. These capabilities support efforts to understand aviation’s carbon and non-CO₂ climate impacts and develop lower-emission technologies and operating practices.
