Filtrona

Filtrona is a Singapore-headquartered specialty filtration company and global market leader in the design, testing, and manufacture of filter solutions, primarily serving the tobacco and nicotine sectors. The company operates nine manufacturing sites, two Innovation Centres, an accredited laboratory, and a sustainability-focused Centre of Excellence. Its current strategy focuses on plastic-free and biodegradable filters, certified wood-based materials, operational decarbonisation, zero waste to landfill, and responsible sourcing. Filtrona traces its industrial roots to Bunzl’s filter activities in the 1940s, with the first dedicated filter manufacturing plant established in Jarrow, UK, in 1948. The Filtrona name was adopted in 1979, rebranded to Essentra in 2013, and restored in 2022 after Essentra’s filters division was acquired by a new owner.
