Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)

Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is a ministerial department of the United Kingdom government responsible for energy policy, energy security and progress toward the UK’s climate commitments, including net zero greenhouse gas emissions. It was created in February 2023, succeeding the energy policy functions of the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. DESNZ leads the government’s mission to establish the UK as a “clean energy superpower,” with strategic priorities that include securing energy supplies, reducing consumer energy costs, supporting economic growth and jobs, and driving down emissions.
