Summary

The CITES Secretariat supports the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, known as CITES. The Secretariat helps Parties regulate international trade in listed wild animals and plants through species listings, permit systems, compliance support, technical guidance, trade data, Conference of the Parties processes, and coordination with national management and scientific authorities. Its work is central to preventing international trade from threatening the survival of wild species.
