Billur Optik

Billur Optik is an Istanbul-based eyewear business whose website operates under the Billur Group name. Its portfolio includes optical frames and sunglasses across several brands, including Bills, Cool, Hipster and Immigrant. The company states that its retail activities began in 1979. In March 2025, the Marine Life Conservation Society identified Billur Optik as its partner in a project using plastic recovered from ghost nets to manufacture sunglasses frames. This earlier collaboration provides context for the recycling approach described in the article. Billur Optik is not named as a manufacturing partner in DP World’s latest announcement.
