BASF Coatings is the coatings division of BASF SE, headquartered in Münster, Germany, specialising in the development, production and marketing of automotive OEM and refinish coatings, functional films and applied surface treatments for metal, plastic and glass substrates. Its operations span across global production and application centers serving industries including automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, and transportation. The division emphasises sustainability and resource efficiency through innovations such as biomass-balance product lines, overspray-free processes, and renewable-electricity sourcing. With a global footprint and partnerships with major OEMs, BASF Coatings plays a key role in enabling lower-carbon manufacturing and value-chain decarbonisation. As of 2024, the business unit generated approximately EUR 3.8 billion in sales and employed around 10,300 people worldwide.
