Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC)

The Australian Energy Market Commission is an independent statutory body responsible for making and amending rules governing Australia’s national electricity, gas and energy retail markets. Established in 2005, the AEMC also provides strategic and operational advice to Australian governments on the development of energy markets. Its responsibilities include assessing proposed rule changes, conducting market reviews and supporting the evolution of an affordable, reliable and increasingly decarbonized energy system.
