Polycotton

Polycotton is a textile made from a blend of cotton and polyester fibers. It combines cotton’s absorbency and comfort with polyester’s durability, crease resistance and quick drying properties. Blend proportions vary, with common examples including 65% polyester and 35% cotton, or equal shares of each. Polycotton is widely used in clothing, bedding and workwear. Its mixed composition complicates recycling and biological treatment because cotton is a biodegradable cellulose fiber, while conventional polyester is a synthetic polymer that does not readily biodegrade.
