Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)

Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) is the collection, integration, analysis, and interpretation of geographically referenced information to understand activities, conditions, relationships, and patterns occurring on or near the Earth’s surface. It combines imagery, maps, satellite and aerial data, geographic information systems (GIS), positioning data, terrain and environmental information, and other spatially linked datasets. GEOINT transforms these sources into actionable knowledge by identifying where events occur, how locations and objects relate to one another, how situations change over time, and what geographic factors may influence outcomes. It is used in defense, national security, disaster response, infrastructure planning, environmental monitoring, transportation, humanitarian operations, business intelligence, and many other fields to support situational awareness, forecasting, planning, and decision-making.
