Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS)
Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) is a semiconductor technology used to manufacture integrated circuits by combining complementary pairs of p-type and n-type metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors. Because one transistor type is generally off when the other is on, CMOS circuits consume relatively little power in their static state. The technology is widely used in processors, memory, image sensors, display electronics, and other digital and mixed-signal systems. In optoelectronics, CMOS backplanes can control or read large arrays of pixels, sensors, or photodetectors, including devices based on emerging materials such as perovskites.
