Bioreactors
Bioreactors are controlled vessels or systems designed to support biological processes involving living cells, microorganisms or enzymes. They maintain specific conditions such as temperature, pH, oxygen, nutrients, pressure and mixing to enable consistent growth or production. Bioreactors are widely used in pharmaceuticals, food processing, fermentation, wastewater treatment, biofuels and cellular agriculture. In cell-cultivated cotton production, they provide a sterile environment where selected cotton plant cells can multiply and develop into fibre-producing material without conventional field cultivation. Their environmental performance depends on factors including energy use, production scale, nutrient inputs, cleaning requirements and the source of electricity.
