The Urban Research to Practice: Science for Policy Hackathon 2026/2027 is a unique opportunity for up to 50 Master students from the University of Vienna to engage in hands-on learning and problem-solving. Kicking off on October 6, 2026, the hackathon will consist of several course sessions leading up to the main event on January 12-13, 2027, at DOCK4Change. Participants will analyze pressing sustainability issues in Vienna and collaborate with local experts, including senior policy advisors and urban planners, to create impactful solutions. The final pitch event will take place on January 19, 2027, allowing teams to present their findings and recommendations. This initiative not only fosters academic growth but also strengthens the connection between academia and urban policy-making, aligning with the goals of urban sustainability transformations and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
