See Christmas Differently

##Overview The event 'See Christmas Differently' will take place on December 8, 2026, from 18:30 to 19:30 at The Royal Society in London. This panel discussion, led by Professor Mark Miodownik, will feature experts in materials science who will address the environmental costs associated with traditional Christmas practices. With the UK producing over 3 million tons of waste during the festive season, the discussion aims to explore sustainable alternatives to common holiday practices, such as tree disposal and gift wrapping. Attendees will gain insights into how materials science can inform more eco-friendly celebrations. The event is free, but prebooking is required via Eventbrite. Live subtitles will be available, and doors will open at 6 PM. For more information on travel and accessibility, visit The Royal Society's website.
