Overview

The Masterclass on Optimising Offshore Renewable Energy Array Design and Locations is a specialized two-day workshop designed to tackle the complexities of wind farm location and array layout. Participants will explore various marine management challenges, including environmental safeguards, marine protected areas, and fishing interactions, while balancing the demands of offshore energy production.

Learning Experience

Attendees will gain unique access to interactive visualization tools within the National Decommissioning Centre’s Marine Simulator, allowing for practical engagement with real-world case studies. Activities will include maneuvering vessels around wind farms and conducting mooring line inspections, providing valuable insights into the operational complexities of offshore renewable energy.

Expert Guidance

The masterclass draws on the expertise of leading academics from ten UK universities, ensuring participants receive cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills. This program is part of a broader initiative funded by the EPSRC, aimed at advancing research in offshore renewable energy.

Registration and Participation

General participants are required to pay a fee of £1000, which includes course materials and lunch. However, eligible early career researchers can attend for free, covering only travel and accommodation expenses.
