##Overview The IRENA Youth Forum 2027 will be the eighth edition of IRENA's flagship platform dedicated to youth empowerment and renewable energy innovation. This year's theme, "Youth Energising the Future: Grids, Storage and Flexibility for Renewable Energy Systems," focuses on how young leaders are driving advancements in grid modernization and energy storage to enhance renewable energy integration and access.
The Forum will feature a series of interactive workshops and high-level discussions aimed at amplifying youth voices in global energy policy. Participants will gain insights into grid infrastructure, storage technologies, and the necessary policy frameworks. The event will also foster partnerships among youth, governments, and the private sector, emphasizing the role of young innovators in financing the energy transition.
Key activities include the main Forum sessions on January 6-7, followed by a closing session during the Seventeenth IRENA Assembly on January 8. From January 9-13, youth-led activities will take place at the IRENA Pavilion during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The Forum is open to young individuals aged 18-35 who are engaged in renewable energy and sustainability initiatives, with applications accepted globally. Selected participants may receive full funding for travel and accommodation, while others can join on a self-funded basis. The application deadline is September 30, 2026, with notifications by November 15, 2026.
