Overview
The conference marks Vietnam's first international event dedicated exclusively to the bauxite, alumina, and aluminium industry. Under the theme "Strengthening the Global Aluminium Industry and Critical Minerals: Vietnam as a Rising Hub in Asia," it aims to promote collaboration between researchers, producers, technology providers, policymakers, and investors.
Technical sessions will cover a range of issues including recycling, decarbonization, and other sustainability topics. Particular attention will be given to the recovery of critical minerals—including gallium, scandium, vanadium, and rare earth elements—from Bayer liquor and red mud, reflecting Vietnam's ambitions to become a regional hub for both aluminium production and critical minerals which are central to the energy transition. The programme also includes an international exhibition, poster sessions, and an optional post-conference visit to the Nhan Co Alumina Complex on 31 October.
