Overview
Organized by the Florence School of Regulation, the course brings together leading academics, EU policymakers, industry practitioners, and carbon market specialists to examine the evolving role of emissions trading and carbon pricing in climate policy. Combining policy analysis with practical applications, it is intended to help participants understand recent developments in the EU ETS, international carbon markets, and the governance of carbon pricing mechanisms.
The programme will explore the implications of the 2026 EU ETS review, including changes to the design and operation of Europe's flagship carbon market. Participants will explore how emissions trading systems are evolving in response to new climate targets, market developments, and international cooperation under the Paris Agreement. The course also aims to foster cross-sector dialogue among regulators, policymakers, businesses, and researchers, supporting the exchange of practical experience and the development of a community of practice around carbon market design and implementation.
