Event Overview

The ASCEND project, in collaboration with its sister initiatives, is hosting a pivotal webinar titled "Why Positive Clean Energy Districts Matter: Building Europe’s Clean Energy Future" on June 11, 2026, from 14:00 to 15:30. This event is part of the European Sustainable Energy Week 2026 and aims to explore how digitally enabled Positive Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs) can transition from pilot projects to scalable solutions.

Key Topics

Cities are responsible for 70-80% of energy consumption in the EU, making their energy resilience essential for the success of the Energy Union. The webinar will delve into how PCEDs serve as effective mechanisms for implementing EU energy and climate policies at the local level. By integrating renewable energy, energy efficiency, and digital solutions, PCEDs can operationalize the objectives outlined in Agenda 2030.

Digitalization and Governance

The session will highlight the role of digital tools in enhancing governance and decision-making processes. Participants will learn how digital twins and integrated decision-making frameworks can help cities design, test, and optimize PCEDs, thereby aligning local actions with EU targets. The discussion will also cover how to reduce risks and attract investments for these initiatives.

Participating Projects

The webinar will feature insights from various projects, including ASCEND, BIPED, ExPEDite, NEUTRALPATH, and TIPS4PED, showcasing their contributions to the development of scalable and investable PCEDs.
