Overview
The 52nd Stanford Geothermal Workshop is set to convene from February 8-10, 2027, at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center, Stanford University. This workshop aims to foster collaboration among engineers, scientists, and managers involved in geothermal reservoir studies and developments.
Format and Participation
Continuing the successful hybrid format introduced in previous years, the workshop will allow both in-person and remote participation. While remote attendees can view presentations in real-time, they will not be able to engage in Q&A sessions. All speakers are required to present in person, ensuring a dynamic exchange of ideas.
Topics of Discussion
The workshop will cover a wide range of topics related to geothermal energy, including:
- Case studies on reservoir response and production effects
- Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS)
- Engineering techniques for reservoir simulation
- Field management strategies
- Exploration methods in geophysics and geochemistry
- Innovations in drilling and well bore flows
- Applications of low enthalpy systems
Abstract Submission
Abstract submission is currently open, with a deadline set for October 8, 2026. Accepted abstracts will be notified by November 12, 2026, and full papers are due by January 29, 2027. This provides an excellent opportunity for researchers to showcase their work and contribute to the geothermal community.
Continuing Education Units
Participants can earn 2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for attending the workshop, with a processing fee of $100. This certification is recognized nationally and serves as documentation for completion of noncredit continuing education programs.
Networking Opportunities
The workshop will also feature a banquet dinner, which is an optional ticketed event, allowing attendees to network in a more informal setting. Sponsorship opportunities are available, enabling companies to support the workshop while gaining visibility among industry leaders.
