The European Rental Association (ERA) has announced the release of Version 3.0 of its Sustainability KPI Framework, equipping rental companies with tools to meet EU reporting requirements. Developed with epi Consulting, the update reflects two years of industry consultation and aligns with the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
The framework offers four tailored KPI lists - basic and comprehensive versions for both SMEs and large enterprises. SME options range from essential Scope 1-2 emissions tracking to advanced Scope 3 reporting, while larger companies can select from 20 basic indicators or 254 comprehensive metrics covering climate, circular economy, and governance.
Practical implementation tools include a guidance document and an Excel-based KPI selector with filtering functions and a decision tree to help companies identify appropriate reporting levels and guidance slides. The framework combines mandatory ESRS metrics with rental-specific indicators not covered by CSRD, addressing sector priorities like equipment lifecycle impacts and workforce training.
The package also includes guidance on double materiality assessments and adapting disclosures for high-risk operations.
