Event Overview

The upcoming webinar, "Community Perspectives of Wave Energy and Open-Water Testing at PacWave, Oregon," is scheduled for April 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM GMT. This session is part of the Supergen ORE Hub's initiative to integrate social sciences into the discourse surrounding offshore renewable energy developments.

Chaired by Bryson Robertson and Hilary Boudet from Oregon State University, the webinar aims to delve into public perceptions of offshore renewable energy projects. It will highlight ongoing studies that assess community responses to such developments, which are crucial for understanding the factors that may influence planning and consenting processes.

The PacWave project, located approximately 6 nautical miles offshore from Newport, Oregon, is set to become a premier testing site for wave energy technology in the Americas. With an estimated capacity of 20 MW, this facility will provide a platform for testing innovative wave energy technologies, contributing significantly to the advancement of offshore renewable energy research.
