Event Overview

The Community Build: Sustainable Strawbale Structures event is a unique opportunity for participants to engage in sustainable construction practices. Over two days, attendees will work together to replace a garden potting shed at The Paradise Cooperative with an eco-friendly structure made from strawbales and lime plaster. This hands-on experience not only teaches valuable skills but also fosters community spirit.

Schedule

  • Day 1 (April 6, 2025): Participants will learn to lay strawbales on foundations, secure them, and install door frames and window supports.

  • Day 2 (April 8, 2025): The focus will shift to the art of lime plastering to finish the structure.

Who Can Attend?

This event welcomes individuals aged 16 and older, regardless of their prior building experience. Whether you're a seasoned builder or a complete novice, the event promises a supportive and engaging environment.

What’s Included?

All necessary tools and materials will be provided, along with a light vegetarian lunch on both days. Participants are encouraged to bring a reusable cup or bowl to minimize waste.

Spaces are limited, so early registration is recommended. In case of rain, activities will continue with shelter available.
