The Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) is set to convene on June 7-8, 2025, at Monaco's Grimaldi Forum. This event is a pivotal gathering for experts, policymakers, investors, and innovators focused on the sustainable management of ocean resources. As the ocean's economic value is projected to exceed $3 trillion by 2030, the forum aims to highlight the importance of sustainable investment and innovative policies in fostering a resilient blue economy.

Objectives

The BEFF will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. It will showcase the latest developments in sustainable finance and marine conservation, emphasizing the need for international cooperation to combat challenges such as overfishing, pollution, and climate change. The forum will also feature a series of plenary sessions addressing key themes, including:

  • Investing for Ocean Health, Preservation, and Resilience

  • Financing a Regenerative and Sustainable Blue Economy

  • Transforming Blue Ports and Shipping

  • Ensuring Sustainable Ocean Governance and Finance

Special Features

In addition to the main sessions, the forum will include curated side events and a Blue Innovation Hall, showcasing innovative solutions and technologies that support the transition to a regenerative blue economy. This event is part of the broader UN Ocean Conference initiatives, emphasizing the socio-economic and geopolitical significance of the ocean in today's world.

Governance

The BEFF is supported by various governments and organizations, with a steering committee co-chaired by notable figures such as H.E. Ms. Ilana Seid, Permanent Representative of Palau to the UN, and Mr. Pascal Lamy, former Director General of the WTO. Their leadership underscores the commitment to fostering a sustainable ocean economy that benefits both current and future generations.
